Panel: How to Make Millions on a $175K Salary
Running for office to get rich? You’re in the right place.
We know it’s tough to make millions on a $175K salary, but don’t worry — we’ve found all the workarounds. This panel skips all the boring stuff like serving your constituents and gets right to what matters most: how to trade stocks from Congress, get rich doing it, and dodge accountability along the way.
Panelists
Virginia Foxx:
Virginia Foxx has made a career out of getting rich in office — including trading pharmaceutical stocks even as she voted against lowering drug prices for North Carolina families.
As one of the oldest members of Congress, she has quite a few years of experience putting her pockets above her constituents.
Rob Bresnahan:
If anyone knows how hard it is to live on a $175K salary, it’s multi-millionaire Rob Bresnahan. But luckily, he figured out that he doesn’t have to. Despite campaigning on a promise to ban congressional stock trading, Rob quickly became one of the most prolific stock traders in Congress.
The key for Rob? Making a profit while Pennsylvanians pay the price. Like when he sold off his stock in Medicaid providers just days before voting to gut Medicaid and put healthcare coverage for more than 30,000 of his constituents at risk. Or when he bought stock in a defense company less than two months before the United States launched strikes on Iran. Or when he traded AI stock while pushing for data centers in Northeast Pennsylvania.
I mean, what is Rob expected to do? “Go broke?”
Tom Kean Jr.:
Multimillionaire Tom Kean Jr. promised on the campaign trail he’d ban stock trading in Congress. But come on, surely no one actually expected him to follow through on that.
He hasn’t. Kean has kept trading stocks. He’s violated the STOCK Act more than once — the same violation his campaign hammered his opponent over — and he still hasn’t put his assets in the blind trust he promised voters he would.
